Songwriters & Hats Off

By | News | No Comments

Gday Folks,

Just a quickie to let you know what’s coming up and going on…

It is my absolute pleasure to be involved with some of Australia’s best Singer Songwriters starting up this week, hosting ‘Songwriters in the Round’ every Wednesday night (except State of Origin nights) in the intimate Arena Bar, downstairs in the brand new Club Central in Hurstville.

For strangers to this format, this is where three songwriters sit side by side armed only with their acoustic instrument of choice and discuss the inspiration and stories behind certain songs before playing them in the raw, uncut way they were written.

Kicking off May 30th starting at 7:00 – 10:30pm throughout June and July, ‘Songwriters in the Round’ will feature the likes of Kevin Bennett, Katie Brianna, Suzy Connelly, Karl Brodie, Lachy Doley, Camille and Stuie French, Kim McKenzie, Amber Lawrence, Chris E Thomas & Jeremy Edwards …just to name a few. Sincerely as a songwriter it is the gig we look forward to the most. A powerful ‘live’ experience where artist and audience really get to connect with the soul of the song. Get a group of friends together and come on down, you won’t be disappointed. Check out my Gig Guide or Facebook Page and links to get all the information as well as all my other appearances around town …and some even wayyyyy out of town.

The Urban Country Music Festival in Caboolture was a massive success and so much credit goes to the amazing staff and volunteers who run that Festival like clock work, even down to organizing some of the best weather for an event yet!

The Harvest Festival in Kingston was another huge success story with event organizers holding back the rain to deliver another powerhouse stage of Australian music, highlights being Jon Stevens and his incredible band just blowing the packed house away.

Finally, the “Hats off to Country” Festival in Tamworth on the 6th, 7th and 8th July should be one of the best yet.

Medicine Wheel will be playing in our spiritual home, the mighty, mighty Tamworth Services Club, on the Friday & Saturday night as well as a special acoustic afternoon with Col Finley and Chris and Pauly of Simply Bushed at the beautiful DAG Sheep Station in Nundle on Sunday arvo. You will need to contact John and Belinda at the DAG asap to be a part of the special lunch and show. And be warned this gig goes late, gets silly and is perhaps a little too much fun!

Regardless, stay safe in the madness and hope to catch’ya somewhere soon!

Cheers Luke
