By | In The Media, News, The Drovers Wife | 3 Comments

Very happy to share the humbling news that at this years Mildura Independent Country Music Festival ‘The Drover’s Wife’ bagged us all – the COVETED Southern Stars Independent Heritage Track Award, Independent Male Vocal Award, Independent ALBUM of the YEAR Award and the mind blowing – Independent Artist of the Year Award… I didn’t know where to look or what to say but 20 years of rabbiting on in front of a classroom meant that was I think I covered all my bases…?

However I would like to thank YOU! Yes YOU reading this who has taken time out of your busy mad-arse day to see what I am up to and that support and interest is what drives me on, so sincerely THANKS!! 🙂

Lots and lots of big fat juicy music stuff coming up like:

*MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE GIGS – Hosting ‘Songwriters in the Round’ out at Rooty Hill RSL (every second Thursday) and Club Central Menai (The first three Wednesdays in November).

* Some fun shows with Ms Amber Lawrence in Canberra Casino and Lizottes Dee Why

* Don’t know if I mentioned ‘The Drovers Wife’ is up for Best Country Album at the Jagermeister AIR Independent Music Awards being held in Melbourne next week … fun! And my single How Well Have You Loved? from my Prodigal Son CD went on to win Honourable Mention in the Unsigned Only International Songwriting Competition in the Folk/Singer Songwriter section. BOOM!!

Heaps more good stuff to share but my head is full so once again …thank you! 🙂

G’day Folks,

Well lots and lots to share:

My latest single, ‘New England Sky’ the duet with the gorgeous Dianna Corcoran is kicking goals on National Radio around the joint and is also doing very well on Foxtels CMC climbing up the Top 30. The mighty Gympie Muster was as good as it gets this with packed shows and beautiful weather plus 5 star accommodation in my mate Razor’s boutique bus. Big congrats to all involved in making it such a huge success!

Very much looking forward to the Mildura Independent Country Music Festival kicking off in October and somehow I’ve been lucky enough to find myself a finalist in four separate categories at the Southern Stars Independent Country Music Awards, with ‘The Drover’s Wife’ nominated for ‘Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Heritage Track & Male Artist. Very humbling and I am sincerely stoked to be there! It’s a great Festival and looking forward to catching up with some ratbag mates!

Also found out that I’d won an honourable mention in the International Unsigned Only Songwriting competition and out of 7500 entries from over 80 countries my song ‘How Well Have You Loved?’ stuck out in the folk singer songwriter category. See the very nice button they sent me below! J

Mud Bulls & Music Festival in November and cant wait for that one. It’s a FANTASTIC festival set out in the stunning Landcruiser Park near Jimna QLD and I’ll be teaming up with the very clever and BEAUTIFUL Benjy and Soni Pocock of The Vibe once again and also catching up with even more ratbag mates.

Am happy to report a new live room in Sydney, the Colonial Hotel in Werrington, is locking in some great country music acts on Friday nights and I will be out there 7th of Sept and 9th of Nov. Canterbury Country is also having it’s Hank Williams spectacular spectacular Thursday Sept 13 and myself and the boys of Medicine Wheel will be doing a show out at Petersham Bowling Club on Sunday the 14th of October.

Songwriters in the Round is spreading it’s wings and starting up a series of shows at Rooty Hill RSL starting on Thursday October 18th, with an amazing array of exceptional singer songwriters talking about their craft and inspiration behind their songs before playing them in the same raw intimate way they were written. Makes for a fascinating evening of inspiring music.

Later in November I am teaming up with the super talented and very good mate Amber Lawrence with a run of shows in Canberra, Albury and on Saturday the 24th of November ‘Lizottes’ in Dee Why, if keen on the later, get in and book early for Lizzottes for it is a beautiful but small room and it will fill up fast!

Lots more stuff scattered all over the place, like a very worth while charity bash down in the MIGHTY Tarago on the 27th of October and in closing, I’d just like to say …Go the mighty Sharkies !!! For even making the finals for the first time in soooooo long!

Stay gold and my very best regards,

Cheers,

Luke

G’day folks,

Well thanks for your patience and here is the brand new website. Big thanks Brent Eaton at Sales Sauce for the smooth and professional transition. If you like the background photo it’s the beautiful Flinders Ranges taken from the drivers seat whilst experiencing yet another incredible South Oz sunset.

It started as a whisper but now The Drovers Wife is well and truly out there. The albums official release will be in Tamworth during the Festival in January but copies are available now through this website via PayPal or through WJO distribution outlets like Sanity, regional JB Hi-Fi, iTunes and any other AWESOME independent record retailer.

The brand new video shot by the ‘way too much talent for one man’ Mr Duncan Toombs, will hopefully be hitting your Foxtel TV screens soon and I will have it up here for a sneak peak …as soon as I figure out how to do it!??

With the madness of Christmas fast approaching, I do pray you find some peace and a present in the sack that you truly like!

Best Regards and don’t forget…. there’s only one thing that God wants to know… How well Have You Loved?

Finally… The Drovers Wife

Luke O’Shea – The Drovers Wife

Two years in the making, between Sydney, Hervey Bay and Nashville. ‘The Drovers Wife’, 12 powerfully produced tracks all penned by Luke O’Shea, his fourth CD and follow up to the multi Award winning album ‘Prodigal Son’.

Teaming up Pacific International Music (PIM) and long time mates Rob Mackay & Michael Flanders, the sole focus of ‘The Drovers Wife’ was to produce each track so that the soul and story within each song shone through brilliantly. Be it through the large scale productions of ‘Same Small Town’, ‘New England Sky’ (a duet with Diana Corcoran) and ‘The Breaker’ or through the heartbreaking delicateness of ‘The Drovers Wife’ & ‘One Shot at the Moon’, on this album, the song is King and this brand new offering from Luke O’Shea will most certainly expose him to a whole new world of music lovers and country music fans.
